Market Monday – Camden Market

Camden Lock Market, and the associated streets and markets in the area, is one of the largest and most famous market areas in all of London. Filled with shops, food, and interesting scenes, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

The original anchor of the area is the Camden Lock Market. It was built on the side of a canal, part of a canal system that runs throughout London. Camden Lock Market consists of outdoor stalls, an indoor hall, and a virtual maze of shops and food. There are some really interesting shops here, and you can be certain to find unique gifts for yourself and friends back home.

After Camden Lock Market grew successful the area started to transform. The streets in the area have some really unique stores, which trend to the counter-culture/Goth side, with lots of leather available. Further markets started being developed nearby, which have variations of shops that are sometimes a bit cheaper and sometimes a bit more “huh?” than the original Camden Lock Market.

As I said, it’s a great place to spend an afternoon. Fun and unique gifts, clothing, home furnishings, art, music and more are easy to find. Food is plentiful and of good quality, and it’s a beautiful setting being situated on the canal! A highly recommended market.
When: Daily, 10am-6pm
Cost: Free! (except for what you buy)
Getting there: Closest Tube stations are Camden Town and Chalk Farm Road stations, on the Northern Line. As always, there are lots of local buses, too.
