Preparing for a “Winter Wonderland” in London’s Hyde Park

Will you be visiting London this December? Then think about stopping by the “Winter Wonderland” event going on in Hyde Park.
From December 1st to January 6th, Winter Wonderland will be taking place in Hyde Park. It will feature:
- London’s largest outdoor ice rink
- A German Christmas Market
- 50 meter tall Ferris wheel (not as big as the London Eye, but still!)
- Santa Claus (called “Santa’s Grotto” in the UK)
- Toboggan slide
- Bars and cafes
- More!
This isn’t an event that has ever taken place in London before, so it should be a very interesting and very unique experience. It’s co-sponsored by a number of newspapers, radio stations, and other top-tier companies in the City, so this isn’t a fly-by-night kind of operation! It could potentially be one of the great events/attractions of the holiday season in the city.
Note that it really rarely snows in London; the photo at the top are quite unusual. (Be forewarned, the same cannot be said for the rest of the UK!)
When: December 1st – January 6th
Where: Hyde Park
Getting there: Take the Underground to either Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, or Marble Arch stations on the Piccadilly or Central lines. MANY buses go to the same area.
Tickets: £10-£12.50 for adults, £7.50 for children. Ferris Wheel tickets extra at £4.50 if booked in advance, more if booked on the day.
Who: This event is truly for everyone, from friends to families. With rides and Santa, kids will be entertained. Kids and adults will love the skating rink, and adults can do some shopping and have a few drinks afterward, too!
