The NBA’s in London!

I’m getting to this a little late, but the Boston Celtics will be playing the Minnesota Timberwolves in an exhibition game here in London tomorrow, Wednesday October 10th. The game is taking place at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, and is sold out.

For those of you lucky enough to get tickets, you’ll be seeing Kevin Garnett play for the Boston Celtics and against his old team (the Timberwolves.) Since I grew up in Minnesota and was just a young lad when the Timberwolves first started, I’ve always been a fan, and I have to admit that I was a little heartbroken when he was traded to the Celtics. Oh, well.

It’s been a number of years since I’ve actively followed basketball. If you want real news and opinions, you’ll have to visit the NBA Obsessed or Hoops Fantasy blogs here at b5media. Stephen already has a post up on a pre-season match-up from this last weekend that was played in Rome, and James has much more detail about Kevin Garnett.

And yes, I still hope the Timberwolves pull this one out.

It’s been a big couple weeks in London for American sports. The NHL season kicked off with the Kings and Ducks playing 2 games.

Minnesota trading Garnett was a good thing for their future. He became the only piece to their puzzle so now they have money for more pieces.

    Hello, Alex.

I guess I hope they’ll be able to use their free cash wisely now!

I didn’t know about the NHL games… they flew under my radar screen here, so thanks for letting me know.

    Jed,
Forgot to ask you what you thought of Flip Saunders, now coaching my Pistons.
Any slip up by the Pistons and it looks like Joe Dumars will fire Flip.
So far, he has been a great regular season coach, but not a great playoff coach.

    Hi, James.

To be honest, I’m not really able to follow basketball over here in London. I vaguely remember Flip Saunders being a good coach at the T-wolves, but not much else!
