Bus Tours in London

Many tourists that visit London want to see as much as possible, in as short a time as possible. Bus tours are a way to make that happen. They travel past all the major sites, you can get on and get off as you wish, and with live guides on board, they can give you a real feel for the way London looks and point you in the direction of what else you might want to see on your visit.
There are two major tour bus operators in London: the Big Bus Tour and The Original Tour. I’ll be honest, and let you know that I haven’t used either of them; I prefer to explore cities on my own and not use guides. However, I have heard good things about both. (One old boss of mine always recommended the Big Bus tour to me, but never really explained why.)
Both tour companies have a lot in common; so it’s really the details of service and exact prices that make them distinct. What’s common between them?
- Tickets valid for 24 hours (usually 48 in the winter)
- Hop-on/Hop-off where you wish, near all major tourist sites
- Walking tours and River cruises included
- Live guides for commentary in English and other languages
Here are more details for the two companies:
Big Bus Tour
Cost: £22 for adults, £10 for children 5-15 years old
The Original Tour
Cost: £19 for adults, £12 for children 5-15 years old
You can purchase tickets for both tours on their websites, at several locations across London, and at virtually any hotel in the city.
