Moshi Moshi Sushi

Moshi Moshi Sushi is hidden away on the mezzanine of Liverpool Street Station, above the trains and the busy commuters, and behind the Marks & Spencer’s food store. It’s so well hidden that I suspect many of its habitués consider it something of a secret.

Well, tough. Because I’m going to tell you about it!

Go into the restaurant and the first thing you’ll see is a bar with a conveyor belt running round the sides. On the conveyor, little plates of sushi slowly go by; salmon, tuna, seaweed wrapped maki sushi.

If you sit at the bar, you simply take whichever sushi you fancy. And carry on doing it until you’ve had enough. The waiter tots up the number of saucers in front of you to arrive at the bill. So it’s a flexible place to eat, if you and your companions don’t share the same level of appetite – or if you just want to try out different types of sushi.

Several different kinds of sake are available, as well as Asahi and Kirin beer – but if you’re here for lunch, you might prefer green tea.

And the really good news is that Moshi Moshi sushi is not very expensive, though it’s thoroughly authentic. You can eat here for £10-15. The restaurant also has a takeaway selection, almost all priced below £10.
