Latest news - Oyster will be extended to many more overground trains from September this year.
Boris Johnson has already got First Great Western to agree to take Oysters - and make discounted fares available - on its trains out of London from September 2008. Now he’s trying to get the other train operators to agree […]

If you’re from out of town, London is one of the most expensive capitals I know for public transport. A tube ticket now costs £4 even if you’re just going two stops. (By comparison, in Paris, I pay EUR 1.80 for any trip on the metro.)
The way round this is to get yourself an Oyster […]

Mapping seems to have become a cool activity these days. I’ve just found another fantastic map of London, obviously very much based on the famous Tube map.
Only difference - this one is for walkers.
Space Syntax is developing a pedestrian routemap for the city. It’s simple, colourful and vivid. Maybe it’s not completely up to showing […]

The ‘Harry Beck’ tube map is well known and loved by many for the way it reduces the chaotic London Underground system to a semblance of order. It’s not geographically accurate - the central ‘rectangle’ of the District and Circle Lines actually looks more like a doughnut that went badly wrong, and the Central Line […]

Gatwick Airport is one of the major airports in the London area. Just outside the M25, London’s main beltway motorway, it serves both European and North American destinations.
Getting to London from Gatwick is fairly easy. Here are your options:
1 - Gatwick Express
This is the easiest option. The train leaves every 15 minutes, […]

London is an extraordinarily safe city. No matter where I’ve been, no matter what time at night, I’ve never felt unsafe.
That said, London is a large city, and a very few people might be up to no good. Most crime is opportunistic, so if you follow some easy steps, you’ll dramatically minimise the […]

Wednesday, November 14th is a big day for people that regularly travel between London, Paris and Brussels. That is the day when the new, high-speed Eurostar service to London’s St. Pancras terminal begins!
Previously the Eurostar train service arrived at London Waterloo station, across the bridge from the Palace of Westminster. Unfortunately some of […]
