London to Australia - by Bus!

Maybe you’ve got a few free months. Maybe you’re looking to get to Australia more fuel-efficiently than by airplane. Maybe you want an adventure (or at least a story) for a lifetime.
If so, then you’re probably thinking of booking a ticket on the Ozbus. Yes, you’ll be taking a bus from London and going half-way across the world to Sydney, Australia.
Cost: £3750 (Approx. $7500 at today’s exchange rate)
Time: 12 weeks
Countries: 20! (including Iran, Pakistan, Nepal and many more)
I think it’s safe to say that this kind of trip is for a committed backpacker or environmentalist. Much of the trip includes camping or staying in hostels and hotels that are quite a few steps below a standard Hilton. Additionally, you’re expected to help cook, clean, etc.
On the other hand, you’ll truly get to experience a wide swath of the world and all of the different people and cultures. From western and eastern Europe to the Mid-East, South Asia, South-eastern Asia and finally to Australia.

Oh my God, I would love to go on this trip! It sounds like the kind of traveling I use to do and would love to do again!

I’m trying to figure out all the geography of how this is going to happen. . ..

There’s a map on their site, and it does cross a good chunk of Iran and some other interesting countries. It might be difficult for US citizens to get visas, to be honest, though likely not for other countries. I wish it was something I could have done about 5-10 years ago, when it was a bit more age-appropriate!
