If you plan on staying in London for a longer period of time and if you want to go on a short trip to somewhere that is not very far away from the big city, you are in the right place. We have gathered some of the best weekend trips you can make from London, so make sure to read on and find out more.
Whitstable, Kent. For approximately one hour’s worth of driving from Kent, a traveller can enter the Oyster Paradise that Whitstable is. Ever since Roman times, the area has been known for its oysters – so there’s absolutely no wonder that even today, they have the best places where you can have them. Even more, if you are a true “aficionado” of this kind of food, you’ll definitely want to come here in July because the they’ve even got an Oyster Festival going on!
Shoreham-by-Sea. If you are among those who would gladly be a bit more extreme and if you feel adventurous, don’t miss out on the opportunities Shoreham-by-Sea can offer. You’ll find it little over an hour away from London, near Brighton and it will be a blast, especially if you’re into extreme water sports. Kitesurfing is the it thing around here and it’s a great water sport even for someone who is fairly new to this. As long as you engage in this under the close supervision of an experienced trainer (which they do provide at Shoreham-by-Sea), you’ll have tons of fun.
Cranleigh, Surrey. For those of you in love with horses, Cranleigh will be an excellent choice for a weekend away from the big city of London. About one and a half hours away from London, this place provides tourists with the opportunity of riding ex-racehorses. Well-tamed and absolutely gorgeous, even the mere presence of these wonderful creatures will make for a great weekend. Aside from horse riding, you can also enjoy some fresh air and great food at one of the B&Bs in the area – and then, of course, you can return to the buzz of London with a whole new “pack” of energy.
Isle of Wight. Alright, this one may be a bit farther from London than the other destinations mentioned in this article, but it can indeed make for the perfect weekend trip as well. If you simply want to get away from the “madding crowd” , the Isle of Wight is precisely what you are searching for. The entire area feels like a trip back to the Victorian era – but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will not have all the comfort you need. Quiet, luxurious and extremely relaxing, the Isle of Wight is the perfect destination for a weekend of peace and beautiful nature. Extra tip: if you want to eat something that will really feel like a feast, try The Hambrough – a restaurant renowned for the amazing food served here. It might be a bit more expensive than your average restaurant, but it will be well worth it for sure!
